NEAT

Non-exercise activity thermogenesis: the calories burned through everyday movement, not formal workouts.

NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis) is the energy spent on everything that is not sleeping, eating, or deliberate exercise: walking, standing, fidgeting, chores, and occupational movement. It can vary by hundreds of calories a day between people, and naturally fidgety people carry an advantage in weight stability. Because it needs no willpower or gym time, NEAT shows high long-term adherence. Adding a few thousand steps a day can offset part of the appetite rebound after a GLP-1.
