Protein leverage
The idea that the body keeps eating until a protein target is met, so adequate protein curbs overeating.
The protein-leverage hypothesis holds that humans prioritize meeting a protein target, and will keep eating other foods until that target is reached. Diets low in protein can therefore drive overconsumption of calories. Practically, this means anchoring meals around protein helps you feel satisfied on fewer total calories. Combined with protein's high thermic effect and its role in preserving muscle, this is why protein (around 1.5 g/kg/day) is the strongest nutrition lever for keeping weight off.
