Weight plateau

A stall in weight change as the body adapts; expected, and not a sign the plan has failed.

A weight plateau is a period where weight stops changing despite continued effort, as the body adapts its energy use to a new, lower weight. Plateaus are a normal part of weight regulation, both during loss and during maintenance. In maintenance, a stable plateau is the goal. Reading weight as a multi-week trend rather than a daily number helps distinguish a true plateau or drift from ordinary day-to-day noise.
