Resistance training
Strength exercise (weights, bands, bodyweight) that preserves muscle and protects metabolism during weight loss.
Resistance training is exercise that works muscles against a load: free weights, machines, resistance bands, or bodyweight. It is the one form of exercise shown to preserve, and even build, muscle during weight loss; in reviews, lifters gained muscle while losing weight, whereas aerobic-only and sedentary dieters lost muscle. Two to three progressive sessions a week is the evidence-based target. After a GLP-1, it protects the resting metabolic rate that buffers against the appetite rebound.
