SURMOUNT is the phase 3 trial program for tirzepatide in weight management, leading to Zepbound's approval. It showed average weight loss in the low-to-mid 20s percent of body weight at the top dose over about 72 weeks, the largest of the current GLP-1 class. As with semaglutide, withdrawal data indicate substantial regain after stopping, underscoring that maintenance planning matters regardless of how much weight was lost.
