Semaglutide
The GLP-1 receptor agonist sold as Ozempic and Rybelsus (diabetes) and Wegovy (weight management).
Semaglutide is a long-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist made by Novo Nordisk. The same molecule is branded Ozempic (once-weekly injection for type 2 diabetes), Wegovy (higher-dose injection for weight management), and Rybelsus (a daily oral tablet for diabetes). In weight-management trials, semaglutide 2.4 mg produced average weight loss around 15 percent of body weight. Because it is one molecule, the off-ramp is the same across brands: stopping leads to appetite-hormone rebound and gradual regain.
